Due to the limitations of virtual consultation, a complete ophthalmologic examination can not be performed. Slit-lamp biomicroscopy, IOP measurement, fundoscopy, and refraction are not possible via teleconsult.
Diagnosis is based on patient-reported symptoms and visual inspection via video, which may not capture fine details or subtle findings.
Patients are advised that certain conditions (ex: glaucoma, retinal pathology, anterior chamber inflammation) cannot be ruled out without an in-person exam.
Recommended:
In-person consultation at the earliest possible time for full ophthalmologic evaluation and diagnostic testing if symptoms persist or worsen.
