Frequently Asked Questions

Can I book a face to face consultation with you?

Yes! A face to face consultation is the preferred setup with patients especially if it is the first encounter, or symptoms are new.

Do you provide clearances for surgery?

I provide a risk assessment (known to lay as clearance) prior to surgeries and procedures through outpatient and in-patient (in affiliated hospitals) settings as an Internist/Internal Medicine Specialist. This risk assessment will then be explained to the patient, and will be up to the surgeon, anesthesiologist and other providers to adjust plans depending on the risk stated. Risk assessment requires in-person consultation with physical examination, and it would sometimes require recent laboratory tests. For patients deemed to have high risk features, appropriate referral to other specialists will be recommended. For patients with modifiable risk factors, appropriate management by me and other specialists may be offered as well. Delaying procedures may be advised. Acceptance of risk of surgery or procedure will be up to the patient. A similar approach will also be done for work, employment and the like. Rates for risk assessment/clearance may vary.

How long does a typical session last?

A typical session lasts around 15-30 minutes per patient. New encounters are longer, while online and follow up consults are shorter. It can also depend on the case, needs of the patient with documents like prescription and certificates.
