Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect for my first session with a psychologist?

Before the start of the session, you will be asked to submit and acknowledge an online informed consent form. The psychologist will conduct an intake interview for the first session which covers your concerns, background, and what you hope to achieve during the sessions. This will serve as the psychologist’s basis for your treatment plan and to help identify other recommended interventions.

Can psychologists prescribe medications?

Kindly note that psychologists are not medical doctors. Thus, they do not prescribe medications and they do not issue medical certificates. A psychologist provides a safe, confidential space to help you explore your thoughts, emotions, challenges, and other life transitions. Through psychotherapy sessions and assessment, the psychologist will work with you in addressing psychological issues, improve coping strategies, and help you move toward personal growth and healing.

How long does a typical session last?

A typical session lasts around 45 minutes per client depending on the client’s case.
