Erla Grace Agutaya

Psychologist and Psychometrician (RPsy, RPm) | Counseling Psychology

I am Erla—a registered psychologist, psychometrician, and educator. I believe that change is the only constant in life, and that living well means learning to embrace the present one day at a time. My helping journey began back in high school—first with peers, then with students, and now I’m honored to extend that care to the wider community through counseling and psychotherapy. At the core of my approach is the belief that you are not the problem; the problem is the problem. I trust that we all have a natural desire to grow and the inner resources to navigate life’s challenges. I believe that people are the experts of their own lives—they know what matters to them and what changes they want to see. My role is to walk alongside you, listening empathically and supporting you in discovering your own strengths, solutions, and goals in a space that feels safe, collaborative, and respectful. My therapeutic orientation is grounded in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). This approach emphasizes “solution talk” over “problem talk”, and encourages clients to recognize what’s already working and how to do more of it. Together, we’ll explore new ways of viewing your situation, identify useful behaviors, and co-create realistic action plans that support meaningful change. I value what you can do, what’s working, and the steps—no matter how small—that move you closer to your preferred future. I believe that growth happens through action, reflection, and recognition of your own agency. As a culturally aware practitioner, I deeply respect the diversity of each individual’s background. I commit to practicing cultural humility, acknowledging my own biases, and continually learning to create an inclusive, affirming environment where you feel seen and heard. I also see myself as a lifelong learner—engaging in ongoing supervision, training, and self-reflection to ensure I provide ethical, compassionate, and effective care. Above all, I believe that each person has a unique purpose and direction. Sometimes we simply need help reconnecting with it. Healing begins with the willingness to change, and I am honored to be part of that journey with every client I serve.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I book a schedule today?

Yes. As long as there is an available schedule, requests for appointments will be immediately accommodated. If not accepted within [24 hours], your request will be automatically cancelled by the system.

I am currently residing abroad, can I book a session with you?

Yes — but with important limitations. As a licensed psychologist in the Philippines, I am authorized to provide psychological services within Philippine jurisdiction. This includes: (1) Clients who are physically located in the Philippines, or (2) Clients located in Philippine-recognized territories abroad, such as: Philippine embassies, Philippine consulates, Philippine Overseas Labor Offices (POLOs) or Migrant Workers Offices (MWOs), Philippine-registered ships or aircraft If you are a Filipino citizen currently residing abroad but outside of these jurisdictions (e.g., in a private residence in another country), I cannot offer my psychological services as these may fall outside the scope of my Philippine license and could be subject to the laws of your host country. To protect your welfare and comply with ethical and legal standards, I will ask for: Your current physical location at time of the session and a signed informed consent outlining the jurisdictional limits of my services.

Do you issue Medical Certificates?

Yes. Take note that a Mental Health Certificate is a legal document affixed with my signature so there may be an additional charge. Mental health certificates are not part of insurance coverage and shall only be given for specific valid reasons and after the consultation. For Mental Health Certificates/ Certificate of Disability (for PWDs or other purposes) I can only give a DIAGNOSTIC IMPRESSION. A full diagnosis could only be given if the patient has undergone Psychological Assessment. A referral letter will be given to the patient together with the certificate. For a Psychological Clearance Certificate it can only be given if the patient has undergone Psychological Assessment and has at least 3 consultations with me for the past year. For Certificate of Fit to Work, this will be given upon the evaluation of the provider after at least 2 sessions.
