Dr. Villanueva is a practicing psychiatrist in Metro Manila, but he also caters to different regions in the Philippines through this online platform. He speaks Tagalog, English, and conversational Cebuano (Bisaya). He previously worked as a Doctor-to-the-Barrio in Cebu, where he spearheaded the community-based mental health program in Tabogon town. During his stay in Cebu, he worked on integrating barangay health workers (BHW) in the service delivery of mental health services in far flung barangays. He finished his psychiatry residency training at the National Center for Mental Health where he gained experience in clinical, as well as administrative functions. His research focused on mapping the mental health facilities and services in the country to identify the gaps in service delivery. He integrates biological and psychosocial aspects when managing his clients. He is also a core group member of the advocacy group #MentalHealthPH.
