Dr. Abraham is board-certified in both Urology and Transplant Surgery, tagged as the "First and Only" Filipino urologist who is fellowship-trained in minimally invasive surgery and kidney transplantation. He is Assistant Professor of Surgery at the UERM College of Medicine, Consultant at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Head of Minimally Invasive Urology at St. Luke's Medical Center, Quezon City, Head of Endourology, St. Luke's Medical Center, Global City, Chairman of the Philippine Board of Transplant Surgery, Concurrent Secretary of the Philippine Endourological and Robotic Society and the Philippine Society for Transplant Surgeons. Dr. Abraham had General Urology Residency at the NKTI in Manila, Philippines, followed by two fellowships in the USA: Endourology and Laparoscopic Urological Surgery at the UC Irvine Medical Center; and Organ Transplantation and Immunology at the University of Texas Medical School. At the University of California Irvine Medical Center, he trained under Dr. Ralph V. Clayman, who is famous for performing the first laparoscopic nephrectomy and prostatectomy in the world, and is Editor-in-chief, Journal of Endourology. Under his tutelage, Dr. Abraham acquired skills in laparoscopic and robotic-assisted urological surgery. Dr. Abraham had extensive training in endourology and is an expert in endoscopic stone management: PCNL, URS, RIRS and ECIRS. He trained at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston under the direct supervision of Dr. Barry D. Kahan (who is an authority in transplantation immunology and past president of ASTS). After his fellowship, Dr. Abraham has performed more than a hundred kidney transplant operations, pancreas transplants and has participated in combined dual organ (kidney-pancreas, liver-kidney and kidney-heart) transplants. Dr. Abraham speaks on transplantation and minimally invasive urological surgery both locally and internationally. He has performed live demonstrations in surgery, demonstrating the advantages of upper pole prone PCNL. He has numerous international and local publications in the Philippine Journal of Urology, Journal of Endourology, AUA Journal of Urology, the British Journal of Urology International and the American Journal of Transplantation. He advocates safe, cost-efficient, minimally invasive urological surgery and transplantation for the Filipinos. His guiding principle in his practice of medicine is: “Total healing of the sick patient requires restoration of his physical well-being, self-esteem, faith in men and hope in the Creator who is the source of all health.”
