Jholyan Francis S. Fornillos, RPsy is an Assistant Professor of Psychology and Division Head of the Sociology-Anthropology-Psychology Division at the Department of Social Sciences, University of the Philippines Los Baños. He earned his BA in (Social Sciences) Psychology degree from the University of the Philippines Tacloban and his MA in Psychology degree from the University of the Philippines Diliman. As a licensed psychologist, Jholyan has extensive experience in providing mental health and psychosocial support, particularly in disaster and crisis settings. He was among the trained psychosocial responders of the Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP) in the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) and contributed to the development of Katatagan, a resilience-building program for Filipino disaster survivors. His research interests include human development, geriatric psychology, disaster mental health, resilience, well-being, and critical and decolonial approaches in psychology. He has authored and co-authored journal articles on diverse topics such as the sexual behaviors of older persons, community responses during emergencies, the life stories of older persons with diabetes-related lower limb amputation, and post-traumatic growth among Filipino crisis survivors. Currently serving as the President of the Pambansang Samahan sa Sikolohiyang Pilipino (PSSP), Jholyan continues to be at the forefront of advancing Filipino psychology through research, practice, and advocacy.
