Dr. Laurence E. Laurel is a St. Luke’s Medical Center – Global City–trained Gastroenterologist and a Diplomate of the Philippine College of Physicians, the Philippine Society of Gastroenterology, and the Philippine Society of Digestive Endoscopy. He has represented the Philippines in several international medical conventions through research presentations and speaking engagements, including UEG Week in Vienna, APASL in Kyoto and Beijing, ENDO in Seoul, and APDW in Bali and Bangkok. Over the years, he has been honored with distinctions such as the International Young Endoscopist Award and Young Investigator Awards, along with recognition in national research and endoscopy video competitions. Dr. Laurel’s clinical practice covers a broad range of gastrointestinal and liver conditions—from common concerns like acid reflux, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, and changes in bowel habits to more complex disorders such as fatty liver disease, hepatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and gastrointestinal bleeding. He performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and both conventional and underwater endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), with precision and care. Guided by a passion for innovation and lifelong learning, Dr. Laurel is set to pursue a one-year Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship at Kanagawa Cancer Center in Yokohama, Japan (May 2026–April 2027), where he will focus on early gastric cancer detection and advanced endoscopic resection techniques. His vision is to advance gastrointestinal care in the Philippines by combining world-class training, modern technology, and compassionate, patient-centered practice—ensuring that every patient receives the best possible care.
