My name is Niccolo J. Tiangco, but you can call me “Colo” for short. I graduated with BA and MA degrees in Psychology in 2012 and 2017, respectively, after which I obtained my Professional Regulation Commission license as a psychologist in the Philippines. I then enrolled in a second masters program at the University of Edinburgh to study cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) at an international level and in 2024 graduated with distinction from its MSc in Psychological Therapies program. I use a friendly but professional approach based on CBT, mindfulness of body and mind, and an openness to explore significant events, relationships, and patterns in your life. I am a strong advocate of the collaborative, reflective nature of counselling: We will together make sense of the thoughts and feelings most important to you. On the side, I have been a teacher, professional editor and writer, and a Yoga Alliance-certified yoga instructor. Though I have worked with various populations, my current focus is mood disorders, substance use issues, relationship issues, life transitions, and existential and identity concerns. I look forward to working with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of consulting or counselling do you do? How many sessions will it take?

Our consultations comprise a combination of CBT and counselling. CBT in its strictest sense is a goal-oriented, time-limited therapy. It usually requires between six (6) and 25 sessions to help you learn to understand you thoughts, feelings, and behaviour and to learn skills to make positive changes. CBT is known for its praticality; however, it sometimes fails to address issues that are not solvable by the skills it teaches. Meanwhile, counselling tends to be less directive while still being goal-oriented. Counselling provides a more open space to explore your beliefs and worldview to make positive changes. Counselling is known for its openness and unconditional regard for its clients but can fall short for clients who are looking for practical skills. That said, you are more than welcome to attend only one (1) session as a trial session.

What can I expect for the first session?

You can expect me to first introduce myself. Then I’ll ask you to describe as best you can how your problem(s) started and how you experience the problem on a daily basis. You can also expect us to collaboratively set initial goals should you decide to pursue future sessions with me.

Do I need to pay first to get an appointment?

Yes, you will have to pay the fee before I will receive the request. The consultation fee includes only the following: examining the patient regarding the complaint, giving the correct diagnosis, and giving the appropriate management/prescription. There will be additional fees charges to you for any additional services offered during the consultation.
