Dr Shanon Marie M. Corsino is an Internist and Adult Cardiologist with additional subspecialty training in Cardio-Oncology, a specialised field dedicated to the cardiovascular care of patients with cancer before, during and after cancer treatment. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Veterans Memorial Medical Center and her Adult Cardiology fellowship at St Luke’s Medical Center – Quezon City. She subsequently undertook a one-year dedicated Clinical Fellowship in Cardio-Oncology at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London, United Kingdom, with clinical collaboration and experience at The Royal Marsden Hospital, one of the world’s leading specialist cancer centres. Her practice encompasses general Internal Medicine and Adult Cardiology, including the assessment and management of hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, dyslipidaemia and cardiovascular risk. With her additional training in Cardio-Oncology, she also provides specialised cardiovascular assessment and care for patients with cancer and cancer survivors, including: Cardiovascular assessment before starting cancer treatment Cardiovascular risk assessment and optimisation Monitoring for potential cardiac effects of chemotherapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapy, and radiotherapy Evaluation and management of cancer therapy-related cardiac dysfunction Heart failure, hypertension, arrhythmias, and other cardiovascular complications during cancer treatment Assessment of patients with pre-existing cardiovascular disease who require cancer therapy Long-term cardiovascular follow-up and survivorship care after cancer treatment Multidisciplinary cardiovascular care in collaboration with Oncology, Haematology and other specialists Her approach centres on evidence-based, patient-centred cardiovascular care, with the aim of protecting heart health whilst allowing patients to receive the most appropriate cancer treatment whenever possible.
